"Gathering the ashes of all those I have slain in the past... My blade imbues them with heat and forcibly awakens them. These reawakened dead become my faithful servants and pursue whomever I deem their enemy until that enemy turns to dust!!!" |
Zanka no Tachi, Minami: Kaka Jūman'okushi Daisōjin (残火の太刀 "南": 火火十万億死大葬陣, Longsword of the Remnant Flame, South: Great Burial Ranks of the Ten Trillion Fire Dead; Viz "Blade of Ember, South: Trillion Flame Great Corpse Formation") is a technique of Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto's Bankai, Zanka no Tachi.
Description[]
Pushing his sword tip-first into the ground, Yamamoto calls upon the ashy remains of those who once perished in his flames, to come forth and fight on his behalf. The dead emerge as charred skeletons from the ground with enough force decimate Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger.[1][2] Using the heat of his sword on their ashes, Yamamoto rouses all the people he has killed, making their corpses become his limbs and attack whomever he deems as his enemy until they are nothing but dust.[3] Aside from swarming the enemy, the skeletons may also form a pile to protect Yamamoto, and he can bring forth any specific corpse he chooses as well as make their original appearance visible, allowing Yamamoto to inflict psychological damage onto those with connections to the dead.[4]
When using the ability against Royd Lloyd, Yamamoto spoke the following: "Corpses. O' ashes of the dead who have perished by my flame. Lend me a hand. For a short while I will grant you the joy of battle." (尸共 我が炎に散った亡者の灰よ 手を貸せ 暫し戦の愉悦をくれてやる, Shikabane-domo. Waga honō ni chitta mōja no hai yo. Te o kase. Shibashi ikusa no yuetsu o kureteyaru.).[5]
