  • Is Yamamoto stronger than Ichibe? He keeps going on about how is the strongest Shinigami born in the last thousand years, blah, blah, so on and so forth, but Yhwach stomped Yamamoto, and Ichibe nearly stomped Yhwach. Zanpakuto-wise, Ichibe has an even bigger lead on Yamamoto. So why was Yamamoto so adamant about being the strongest?

    • During the battle against Aizen, Yamamoto says "Why, precisely, do you think I have served as Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 for a thousand years? Because in all those thousand years, no Shinigami was born to rival me in strength", my guess is that there could be stronger Shinigamis before those thousand years and Ichibe may be one of them. So Yamamoto is really stronger than every Shinigami who borned after him, but Ichibe is stronger yet.

    • I didn't think about that. I was under the impression that Yamamoto was the original Shinigami, since he founded the Gotei 13, but it does make a little sense that Ichibe could have become a Shinigami first, considering how he names everything. Still that isn't much to be proud of. "I'm stronger than everybody who came after me, but not the people who came before." That's not really a good boast.

    • I used to be under this impression too, mainly because of Yamamoto's appearance. Actually, comparing the Royal Guard's power and age with Yamamoto's still confuses me. Ichibe, the one who names everything, and even Nimaiya, the one who created the Zanpakutou, could be examples of Shinigamis who came before Yamamoto. Like I said, it confuses me, but I must agree that "I'm stronger than everybody who came after me, but not the people who came before." is kinda sad.

    • @Kokanhora, and GodUrahara

If I were to meet the strongest human, born in the last thousand years, I believe I'd be quite impressed. But I guess you two see people like that all the time? ^^

    • I think this conversation is a bit off. Yamamoto was head of the gotei 13 and Ichibe is head of the royal guard. They both command different roles and purpose. The first point is the royal guard rarely interact in the same dimension as other shinigami. Having said that they are a different level because of their role, they have capabilities and roles far beyond the common shinigami. When Ichigo went to the soul palace their level of training was far above what the shinigami in general were capable of. So lets look at the real issue. Yamamoto has Ryujin Jakka it is the oldest & most powerful fire-type and has the most powerful attack power of any zanpakuto in soul society. Even other captains feared it in shikai. As far as his point about being captain-commander for 1000 yrs cause nobody was born more powerful then him in all that time. Well thats the reality but whats also reality is that Yamamoto is over 2000yrs old and his role was captain-commander of the gotei 13. Ichibe's power lied in his power over names and the effects of that not in actual attack power. Bach's triumph on both accounts were plot device lvl cheat codes straight out of your favorite game system. In actual battle he would have been done for. Yamamoto wasnt adamant about being the strongest he was among those of soul society, which the royal guard arent included in (being in a entirely separate dimension and role) nor are they in comparison cause they are never around nor against the gotei 13. Also Yamamoto was true no shinigami born in 1000 yrs could take him. If your point is to count non-shinigami or people that came before him then theres no point to bring up facts we know. The point of this thread wont find a actual answer that is satisfying. They both have their strengths and in fact we dont know enough about the history of SS to make a claim. Its just as easily that they both are of the same place in history each with their skills.

    • Well, Yamamoto did have his zanpakutou stolen by Yhwach during their fight, which then gave Yhwach a ridiculously huge advantage.

In regards to who would be stronger, it seemed like for Ichibe's zanpakutou powers to take effect, his opponent would need to be covered with the ink created by his zanpakutou, but if Yamamoto used his bankai, wouldn't his Zanjitsu Gokui ability simply reduce the ink to ash, rendering the zanpakutou powerless? I guess there are too many variables to consider, seeing as they both probably had abilities that they didnt show

    • Couldn't Ichibe just erase the name of his zanpakutou or even HIS name?

    • I think yamamoto is the most powerful than ichibe, can ink touch the flame? Or if yamamoto use bankai, can ichibe touch the heat? I think no, but still aizen said if you have special abilities you can defeat the strongest. Maybe yamamoto and ichibe equal, for me they both equal to yhwach. But you must consider ichibe can use bankai when face yhwach, but not yamamoto. Yhwach said yamamoto are not stronger when he is in younger years, so to many variables

    • ichibe wins. its kinda simple actually. full power ywach without the almighty active= bankai yamamoto. maybe yama is stronger. but ichibe is not only stronger than yhwach with the almighty active, he also killed him, i believe, twice. this means bankai ichibe> almighty yhwach> bankai yama> base yhwach.

    • Yhwach escape yamamoto bankai, by stolen the bankai. Also the twins cannot hurt yamamoto, despite what ever he use. So, yhwach with almighty cannot win against yama bankai, and almighty yhwach stronger than ichibe. Yamamoto bankai>almighty yhwach>ichibe>base yhwach
