Soul Distribution Power (魂を分け与える力, Tamashī o Wakeataeru Chikara), or "the power to share" (分け与える力, wakeataeru chikara), is a unique Quincy ability possessed by exceptionally rare Quincy, such as Yhwach and Jugram Haschwalth. Instead of taking power from Reishi in the environment, they give power to others.

Overview

Special Quincy with the power to share do not have the innate Quincy ability to absorb Reishi to turn into their own power. Instead, their innate power is to give out pieces of their soul to other individuals. Any soul, regardless of race, that makes contact with these special Quincy's soul will receive power and then give that power back upon their death. In the past, before Yhwach's birth, these Quincy were percieved as failures and were culled. Yhwach recognized that these Quincy had the same power as him and sought after a second one. Due to the rarity of these Quincy, who are said to be born once every few decades, Yhwach's search took him 200 years and he found Jugram Haschwalth. As they are the same type of Quincy, Yhwach considers Haschwalth to be his "other half" (半 (はん)身 (しん), hanshin).

Yhwach reabsorbs the power he had given to James.

Although Quincy like Yhwach and Haschwalth are naturally powerless as Quincy, Yhwach has learned to accumulate power by giving out power, having others grow that power, and then taking that power back. On the other hand, when Yhwach found Haschwalth, Haschwalth seemed to be unable to take back the power he had given out, and thus he remained powerless as a Quincy up until being recruited by Yhwach. Nevertheless, by proximity alone, Haschwalth had unknowingly been increasing Bazz-B's powers since they were children. As an adult, however, Haschwalth has demonstrated Reishi manipulation, suggesting that he has overcome his weakness.

In the case of Yhwach, he was born completely powerless and without the ability to speak, move, or sense anything. Anyone who touched him found themselves miraculously healed, be it physical or psychological. In truth, this was baby Yhwach distributing his soul. Those afflicted with his blessing were also cursed to die within a few years, some even a few months or days, and each time they died, the baby received their experience, their knowledge, and his power that they had grown. By continuously doing this, Yhwach is able to circumvent his condition.

Schrifts are an advanced application of this ability. By allowing others to drink his blood, Yhwach can share a greater amount of his soul and engrave a letter onto the recipient's own. This awakens unique abilities.

Trivia

• In the manga, Jugram Haschwalth intially claims that Yhwach is the only Quincy with the power to share, but 68 chapters later, it is revealed that Haschwalth is the same type of Quincy as Yhwach. The anime adaptation avoids this by omitting the dialogue from the former scene.
• Curiously, the only known Quincy that were born with the power to share (Yhwach and Haschwalth) are the same two Quincy that can wield The Almighty. Yhwach has referred to such individuals as "true Quincy".
