Quincy: Vollständig (滅却師完聖体 (クインシー・フォルシュテンディッヒ), Kuinshī Forushutendihhi; German for "Quincy: Complete", Japanese for "Destroyer: Complete Holy Form"; Viz "Quincy: Holy Form") is a part of Quincy evolution and the answer to the drawbacks of the outdated Quincy: Letzt Stil.[1]

Overview[]

Quincy: Vollständig is the successor of the Quincy: Letzt Stil, which the Wandenreich view as a "relic of the past", with its notion dying out around 200 years ago due to its fragility.[2] Quincy: Vollständig allows the user to retain their powers and use it repeatedly. One user, Bazz-B, deactivated and reactivated it several times during a day.[3][4][5]

The standard method for a Quincy to activate Quincy: Vollständig is using their Leiden Hant as a catalyst, in which the Wandenreich emblem on it will shine with a large quantity of spiritual energy.[6] However several Quincy can use alternate devices, such as Mask De Masculine, who wore a belt that serves as a substitute for the glove,[7] Äs Nödt, who can activate it by rolling back his left eye, revealing a Wandenreich emblem on the inside of his eyeball,[8] and Gerard Valkyrie, who can activate Quincy: Vollständig by forming a Quincy Zeichen in the air telekinetically with his blood.[9] The activation of a Quincy: Vollständig is usually paired with a large pillar of light ending in a Quincy Zeichen surrounding the Sternritter in question.[10] However, some Sternritter, such as Robert Accutrone, have displayed the ability to activate it in an instant and without the pillar manifesting.[11] Additionally, one's Quincy: Vollständig can activate on its own when the user is surrounded by high concentrations of Reishi and does not possess full control over it, as evidenced when Candice Catnipp's Quincy: Vollständig briefly activated against her will.[12]

If a Quincy activates Quincy: Vollständig while trapped/encased within something, the Vollständig's pillar of light has the additional effect of freeing them by destroying the structure which they are encased in.[13]

General Abilities[]

Ep389RobertSklaverei

Robert uses Sklaverei to boost his Quincy: Vollständig.

  • Sklaverei: Quincy: Vollständig allows the user to absorb large amounts of Reishi via their Heiligenschein, either to empower their Spirit Weapons, or to augment the form and capabilities of their Vollständig itself.[14] Using Sklaverei, a Quincy's capability for Reishi absorption increases drastically. They can absorb the trees, sand, rocks, and the buildings in Hueco Mundo or Soul Society, and they can even absorb spiritual abilities such as Orihime Inoue's Santen Kesshun and entire living Souls such as Ayon.[15][16]
  • Flight: Quincy: Vollständig users can use the Reishi wings generated by the technique for high-speed flight.[17][18][19]
  • Spirit Weapon: With their Quincy: Vollständig activated, a Quincy can produce a Spirit Weapon, made entirely of Reishi, from the gauntlet on their wrist. They can use this weapon for both melee attacks and to fire Heilig Pfeil.[20]
  • Enhanced Schrift: The ability granted by a Sternritter's Schrift is greatly amplified. Its power and range are raised,[21] and a Quincy gains access to new techniques which they can't use normally.[22]
  • Enhanced Spiritual Awareness: A Quincy using Quincy: Vollständig can sense Reiatsu to a far greater level, allowing them to surpass any ability which would hide one's presence if they are more powerful than the opponent in question.[23]

Drawbacks[]

  • Stamina Drain: Quincy must train to use Quincy: Vollständig. According to Candice and Giselle Gewelle, it is very taxing on one's stamina.[12]
  • Medallized Bankai: A Quincy is unable to use Quincy: Vollständig while in possession of a Shinigami's Bankai.[24]
  • Auswählen: Yhwach's Auswählen strips Quincy of their ability to use Quincy: Vollständig, even if they evade direct contact with the light.[25]
  • Vulnerable Heiligenschein: If it is destroyed, the Quincy loses the power granted by Quincy: Vollständig, though they still retain their form.[26][27]
  • Shinken Hakkyōken: This Zanpakutō can reflect the "god's power" emitted by Quincy: Vollständig, at least in the particularly divine case of Lille Barro.[28][29]

Features[]

Ep369QuilgePromisesDeath

Quilge Opie's Heiligenschein.

Quincy: Vollständig takes on a variety of forms, but most commonly gives its user an angel-like appearance, with wing-like Reishi constructs and a star-like Quincy Zeichen for a halo, which is known as a Heiligenschein (光輪 (ハイリゲンシャイン), Hairigenshain; German and Japanese for "Halo"). Those whose Quincy: Vollständig give them these visual traits include Quilge Opie,[30] Bambietta Basterbine,[31] Candice Catnipp,[32] Bazz-B,[3] Robert Accutrone,[6] Liltotto Lamperd,[33] and Meninas McAllon.[33] However, not all Quincy: Vollständig grant these specific constructs: Mask De Masculine's Quincy: Vollständig gives him a cape-like Reishi construct on his back, small wings on his neck, and a giant star around his head,[34] and Äs Nödt's Tatarforas gives him ring-like spikes on his back and a spiky halo floating above his head.[35] The appearance of Quincy: Vollständig can become more detailed through the usage of Sklaverei.[14]

Gerard Valkyrie and Uryū Ishida are the only Quincy whose Quincy: Vollständig does not grant them a Heiligenschein,[36][37] though Gerard did get one when his Vollständig partially manifested after he was empowered by Yhwach's Auswählen.[38]

Two members of the Schutzstaffel, Lille Barro and Gerard, have shown that if they suffer from a fatal injury while in their initial Quincy: Vollständig state, they can enter a second form. Their bodies transform drastically different from their previous forms, and the fatal injury and lost body parts incurred will be regenerated.[39][40]

Trivia[]

  • Several Vollständig names end with -el (〜エル), likely alluding to biblical theophory where many angelic names end with "el" (אֵל, Hebrew: "(of) God"), often rendered in Japanese as 神の.
  • The English localization of the manga and the anime both transliterate the name of this technique differently, spelling it Quincy Vollsterndich[41] or Quincy Voll Stern Dich.[42]
  • While most Quincy: Vollständig appear to be blue in the colored manga, in the anime and in Bleach: Brave Souls, each individual Quincy: Vollständig has its own color scheme.
671Gerard's Heilig Bogen

Gerard's Quincy: Vollständig has no Heiligenschein or wings.

  • Unlike other Quincy: Vollständig, Gerard Valkyrie's does not include a Heiligenschein nor wings. Gerard has wings when he initially uses Quincy: Vollständig, but only because he already had them beforehand, and he removes them soon after.[43] This is because he can create and disperse wings at will, even in his base form.[44]
  • In Ryōgo Narita's novel Bleach: Can't Fear Your Own World, Liltotto Lamperd expresses her belief that Uryū Ishida is the only remaining Quincy who still has access to his Quincy: Vollständig after Yhwach's defeat. It is also established that Sklaverei is an ability that all Sternritter can use with their Quincy: Vollständig active, not unique to Quilge Opie's.[45]
  • In the manga, when the Schutzstaffel are revived by Yhwach, they sport identical featherly wings and they do not have Heiligenschein,[46] except Gerard in a much later scene.[47] The anime adaptation changes these to their own unique Quincy: Vollständig forms, albeit only partially manifested.[48]
  • In the anime, the pillar of light generated by the activation of Quincy: Vollständig makes the sound of church bells tolling.[49][50][51]
  • Despite seemingly not wearing a Sanrei Glove any further, Uryū is able to access Quincy: Vollständig.[52]
