Nayura Amakado (阿万門 ナユラ, Amakado Nayura) is a member of the Central 46, specifically one of its 40 sages. Originally the Chief Librarian of the Daireishokairō, she inherited her position among the Central 46 after her father, a previous member, was murdered by Sōsuke Aizen.[1]

Appearance[]

Nayura is a small girl with small thick eyebrows who looks to be around 10 years of age, as opposed to her true age. Like all Central 46 members, she wears white haori and black shihakushō underneath.

Personality[]

At first, Nayura believed that Central 46 is absolute and everything decided by Central 46 is what the best for Soul Society. However, after meeting Izuru Kira, Nayura began to reconsider the current condition of Central 46. Unlike most nobles in general, Nayura has broad way of thinking, wishing to understand more about Shinigami and citizens of Soul Society through her own experience as she believes that understanding them would improve how Central 46 should act. Her willingness made her not seeing any problem interacting with those of lower status and even at some point directly went to Rukongai herself. This allowed her to see how arrogant and short-minded Central 46 is and determined to change it. Her shrewdness which has existed long beyond what meets the eye, is acknowledged by both Shunsui and Nanao. She is also brave, refusing to disclose the key to the Daireishokairō even when her own life is threatened.

History[]

Beginning of the Revive of Tomorrow[]

Nayura was a Chief Librarian of the Daireishokairō. Her position allowed her to know and remember every records written and placed within the library, which contains all history of Soul Society. Her father was one of Central 46 members and was killed by Sōsuke Aizen. After her father's death, Nayura quit from her position as Chief Librarian to succeed her father's position in Central 46, becoming one of its 40 Sages and also the youngest member.

Nayura was present when Central 46 held a trial for Izuru Kira and Shūhei Hisagi, who were under suspicion of conspiring together with their traitorous captains, Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen, respectively. When Izuru tried to defend Gin by admitting that attacking Momo Hinamori and Rangiku Matsumoto was all his own decision, Nayura pointed out that admitting it won't erase Gin's crimes. To her surprise, Izuru replied that he simply didn't want his former captain to carry his mistake. This left a big impression on Nayura and she became interested in Izuru. Right after the trial, Nayura immediately inquired Izuru, wishing to understand him more as understanding a Shinigami's thoughts would help improving Central 46.

Ever since her talk with Izuru, Nayura began to visit various districts in Seireitei that usually visited by Shinigami in attempt to understand more about them while concealing her identity as a noble. One day, she coincidentally met Izuru, Shunsui Kyoraku, and Rangiku Matsumoto at a tea house. Recognizing her, the three Shinigami gave Nayura more knowledge of how people of lower status lives. She even went as far as visiting Rukongai herself, which shocked others.

Sometime afterward, during the first invasion of the Quincy, Nayura learned that Izuru has died.[1]

Plot[]

Beginning of the Revive of Tomorrow[]

During the second Wandenreich invasion of Soul Society, Central 46's underground chamber is attacked by the Sternritter Shaz Domino. During the attack, Nayura is trapped by falling debris, rendering her unable to move. Shaz, who is seeking the secret to create a Hōgyoku, demands to know the key to the central Library. One of the Central 46 members sells out Nayura as the one who holds the key, in a failed attempt to save his own life. Seeing how the arrogance of Central 46 has left them wide open to attack and disgusted by their cowardice, Nayura states that Central 46 has gone mad since long ago, lamenting the many mistakes they made and how they are actually afraid of the Shinigami's growth.

Nayura remains silent even when Shaz questions her about the key, leading Shaz to decide to cut one of her legs. Before he could do so, Izuru appears and frees Nayura, shocking her as she had heard that he died during the first invasion. Nayura then watched Izuru fighting Shaz until the former finally defeats the latter. Nayura then asks why did he save them, to which Izuru replies that he came not to save them, but to regain his honor as Shinigami of Gotei 13. Before Izuru goes, Nayura pleads for his return otherwise she won't forgive him. Izuru reminds her that he is already dead and so won't expect her to forgive him for unable to keep that promise. However, Nayura insists that she will use her authority as Central 46 member to make him a hero even more known than Ichigo Kurosaki, and if he doesn't like it then he must return alive. Izuru finally promises that he will do the best that he can.

A few hours after Izuru left, she and the other surviving members of Central 46 then sensed the Soul King's demise. As all Central 46 members become afraid and lose hope, Nayura scolds them and firmly states that they must remain strong and change for the better for the sake of Soul Society and orders the others to help any citizens from the Rukongai to take shelter. She becomes determined to prove that they are people who are worthy to be saved by Izuru.[1]

Bleach: Can't Fear Your Own World[]

After Yhwach's defeat, Nayura kept her promise. It was mentioned in Shunsui Kyōraku and Nanao Ise's conversation that with Nayura as the pivot, the Central 46 who prioritized nobility, were gradually changing for the better. There is a conscious disparity that exists between the status quo of the Shinigami and the Central 46, but that gap is slowly being filled through the pressure and encouragement of both her and Shunsui.

Half a year later, Nayura visits Shunsui with an official notice and a request from Central 46 in regard to the assassination of the family head of Tsunayashiro Clan, one of the four great noble clans in Seireitei.[2]

Powers and abilities[]

Kidō Practitioner: Nayura is capable of using healing Kidō.

  • Kaidō (回道, Turn Way): Nayura is skilled enough in healing Kidō to restore her own legs after they were crushed by debris.[1]
