Mai Suzuki (鈴木 舞, Suzuki Mai) is a high school student and former classmate of Kyōko Haida.

Appearance[]

Mai has brown hair with red clips on the left of her bangs, and has dark-colored eyes. She wears a school uniform from her high school, which consists of a short-sleeved white shirt, a light blue colored vest, and a dark blue skirt.[1]

Personality[]

Mai is a friendly and carefree teenage girl. She was also once the only friend of Kyōko Haida. However, this changed when Kyōko confronted her about the guy she was dating, which causes Mai to become fearful of her and ultimately alienate her.[1]

History[]

Mai was friends with Kyōko Haida when they attended the same high school. Mai became wary of Kyōko when she correctly predicted what a teacher would put on a test. When Kyōko found out that Mai was dating a boy who was known to be cheap and date numerous girls, she tried to warn Mai in order to prevent him from hurting her. However, Mai called her a freak before running off in tears.[1]

Kyōko, possessed by a Tōjū, tracks down Mai and tries to kill her. Kyōko manages to resist the Tōjū's control enough to prevent it from killing Mai, who tries to call for help. Mai faints after seeing Kyōko and traces of the Zanpakutō spirit on her. Realizing that Mai would never accept her again, Kyōko feels that everyone would treat her as an outcast. As she bids farewell to Mai, Kyōko is engulfed by Reiatsu. The Zanpakutō takes full possession of Kyōko's body and materializes into its full form. Orihime Inoue, Ichigo Kurosaki, and Rukia Kuchiki arrive to deal with the Tōjū. Rukia moves Mai to a safe distance away from the battle. After the Tōjū is defeated, Rukia erases Mai's memory.[1]

The following day, Mai walks through town with her classmates, unaware that Kyōko is watching her.[1]
