Overview

Getsuga Jūjishō (月牙十字衝, Moon Fang Cross-Shaped Piercer; Viz "Moon Fang Cross Blast") is a technique of Ichigo Kurosaki with the true Shikai of his Zanpakutō, Zangetsu.

Description[]

Firing a Getsuga Tenshō with each blade of his true Shikai, Ichigo fuses them into a large, cross-shaped blast of energy (normally with the smaller blade first, then the larger blade last). It is powerful enough to disperse Quincy: Vollständig-level techniques such as Candice Catnipp's Electrocution[1] (which also obliterated her left arm on contact)[2] and Uryū Ishida's Sternenstaub.[3] Likewise, when used against Yhwach's Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger a single Getsuga Jūjishō easily dispersed the "ultimate defense spell" and injured Yhwach at the same time.[4]

Trivia[]

  • In Bleach: Blade Battlers 2nd, Zangetsu/Hollow Ichigo's neutral/EX Super Move, Niren Getsuga (弐連月牙, Double Moon Fang), is a cross-shaped double Getsuga Tenshō that predates the Jūjishō.
    • Ironically, this is also another Getsuga Tenshō variation used by Zangetsu before Ichigo himself (albeit a non-canon variation, and in Shikai state instead of Bankai state).
    • Another non-canon instance of a double-layered cross Getsuga Tenshō was done by Ichigo in Bankai state in Episode 189 of the anime against Shūsuke Amagai, akin to the aforementioned Niren Getsuga.
  • So far only in the game Jump Force as with many of Ichigo's Reiatsu-based attacks with the true Shikai form of Zangetsu, this game was the only form of media where the Getsuga Jūjishō has been colored blue before being colored yellow/gold as per the manga in subsequent appearances afterwards (later video games like Brave Souls being one example).
    • Also in Jump Force, when Ichigo is awakened into his Merged Hollowfication Form, his Gran Ray Cero-enhanced Getsuga Tenshō replaces the default version and the Getsuga Jūjishō throughout the current match.
