Soul Society arc[]

Ep62HooleerWithGillians

Hooleer lurks in the Garganta.

Hooleer is present when Sōsuke Aizen, Gin Ichimaru, and Kaname Tōsen are being extracted from Sōkyoku Hill via Negación. It remains in the shadows of the Garganta, behind the mass of Gillians that await the three captains.[3]

Fake Karakura Town arc[]

Ep278Regüeldo

Hooleer using Regüeldo blowing away Jōkaku Enjō.

Wonderweiss Margela arrives in the Human World during the Gotei 13's battle with the Espada, bringing Hooleer with him.[4] It dwarfs the other combatants in terms of size. While Wonderweiss attacks Jūshirō Ukitake, Hooleer uses its breath to extinguish the fire prison which is trapping Aizen, Gin, and Tōsen, freeing them.[1] After Wonderweiss screams, Hooleer releases Gillians from its mouth to attack the Visored.[5] After the Visored kill the last Gillian, Mashiro Kuna attacks it with her Mashiro Super Kick, killing it, as Wonderweiss stares.[6] Following Mashiro's attack, Gin comments on how easily she took out Hooleer even though it was Wonderweiss's favorite.[7]

Powers & Abilities[]

MenosGeneration

Hooleer releases a horde of Gillian.

Regüeldo (レグウェルド, Reguwerudo; Spanish for "Belch/Eruction"): Hooleer's breath is powerful enough to extinguish the prison of fire made by Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto's Ryūjin Jakka. Kaname Tōsen stated that its breath "smells of death."[1]

Menos Generation: It can spawn numerous Gillian-class Menos from its mouth. It looks like a mass of black liquid and masks until the Gillian Menos separate into their individual forms.[8]

Appearances in other Media[]

Hooleer appears as one of Aizen's special moves in Bleach: Blade Battlers 2nd, where it spits out Gillians to attack.

Trivia[]

  • In the anime, Gin refers to it by the name Fura instead of Hooleer.[9]
