Danzōmaru (斷蔵丸) is one of the four gatekeepers who guard the entrance to Seireitei. He is the guardian of the Black Ridge Gate (黒陵門, Kokuryōmon).^[1]

Appearance

Danzōmaru is a very large man, easily towering above most Shinigami. He has light bushy eyebrows and his head is shaven bar a patch in the centre where his hair is dyed in an alternating pattern of light and dark.^[1]

Plot

Soul Society arc

Sōsuke Aizen hypnotizes him and the two other guardians so he could use them to hinder Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends. However, he is stopped by Jidanbō Ikkanzaka.^[2]

Bount arc (anime only)

Note: Events occurring in this arc are only in the anime and do not constitute canon material.

Ep99DanzomaruDefeated — Danzōmaru lies defeated.

When the Bount invade Soul Society, Danzōmaru attempts to repel them, but he is quickly defeated by Yoshi and Mabashi.^[3]

Powers & Abilities

Spiritual Power: As a Shinigami and gate keeper, Danzōmaru possess some level of Reiatsu.
