Bolding/Italicizing of Words[]

Should we also add to the manual of style that all weapon names (Quincy, Zanpakutō, etc.) be bolded and all techniques italicized? Also, if we are going to do this, how would we count the Stern Ritter's epithet? As a weapon or a technique? Kamikaze839 (Talk To Me!!)

Powers & Abilities Standardization[]

Figure this is the best place to discuss this. I've been noticing for a while now that the P&A sections in articles tend to be all over the place in terms of the order in which different powers and abilities are listed, and I've been wondering if it would be worthwhile to come up with a fixed order that they would be listed in in order to provide some standardization and quality control, of a sort. This is what I've come up with as a general order:

Spiritual Power Level
Swordsmanship Skill Level
Hand-to-Hand Combat Skill Level
Shunpo/Sonído/Hirenkyaku Skill Level
Kidō/Quincy Spells Skill Level
Intelligence Level
Physical Strength Level
Physical Speed Level (if character is not a Shinigami, Hollow, Arrancar, or Quincy)
Physical Agility/Reflex Level
Physical Endurance Level
Physical Durability Level
Unique Skills (Sternritter epithets, those weird Zanpakutō spirit techniques, etc.)
Other Skills (Master Assassin, Master Chef, etc.)

Thoughts? Anything I missed?--Xilinoc (talk) 07:47, August 13, 2014 (UTC)

Well, the two main reasons they're all over the place is because of the piecemeal manner in which the information came to light over the course of the series and to a much lesser extent to allow pictures to be placed in the sections without causing large swathes of empty space. Afterall we don't have a pic to highlight many abilities, so the ones that have pics naturally got moved around if they were causing serious empty spaces. There needs to be flexibility to allow for that, which a set order across the board wouldn't cater for. But if say it was done as an ideal that could be adapted where necessary rather than a hard and fast rule its not a bad thing. Though what order to put them in is certainly up for debate. There is an element of a character's strengths being listed first (or near top) as that is what sets them apart from the crowd, which this order would eliminate. I prefer the highlighting of their character defining abilities, but others might think differently. People will have to give their opinion which way they prefer to list them, or post alternatives. ~~Ууp <talk> 09:48, August 13, 2014 (UTC)

I agree with both of you. The issue of organization is prominent and needs to be a priority. Though I do think that the most defining capability should work as the focal point. I think the best organization seeing as I implemented the concepts in the P&A section in the first place, its probably makes sense if after all this time i took responsibility and attempted to fix this.

Shinigami

  • Focal Point Ability/Abilities (zanjutsu, hakudo, kido, healer, assassin, etc)
  • Standard Skills (zanjutsu, shunpo, hakuda, kido)
  • Spiritual Power level
  • Developed Skills (strength, durability, endurance, speed, agility/reflexes)
  • Zanpakuto (obviously this is its own section and therefore goes exactly where it always has at the bottom)

Arrancar

  • Focal Point Ability/Abilities (unique power, hand-to-hand, swordsmanship, etc)
  • Standard Skills (hand-to-hand, swordsmanship, sonido)
  • Spiritual Power level
  • Developed Skills (strength, durability, endurance, speed, agility/reflexes)
  • Zanpakuto (obviously this is its own section and therefore goes exactly where it always has at the bottom)

Quincy

  • Focal Point Ability/Abilities (Quincy epithet)
  • Standard Skills (swordsmanship, foot work, hand-to-hand, Ginto)
  • Spiritual Power level
  • Developed Skills (strength, durability, endurance, speed, agility/reflexes)
  • spirit weapon (obviously this is its own section and therefore goes exactly where it always has at the bottom)

Could probably do a mock up to get the idea but the point is after the focal power its to be standard layout for all characters of that racial type.--Salubri (Chat) 19:36,8/13/2014

Profile Image Names[]

So now that we know Bleach is continuing and characters are getting NEW new looks instead of necessarily sticking with what they had by the last page of chapter 686, I'm looking at what that translates to in the infoboxes and it doesn't look great, both in terms of fitting all the time period names into the 270px wide space and in terms of naming those time periods - a long-standing pet peeve of mine is that we've pushed so hard to avoid out-of-universe wording, yet one of the most prominent parts of the infoboxes casually uses "Timeskip" and "Epilogue". So I had an idea: to both slim it down to one line and to stay in-universe, for the time periods currently named Pre-Timeskip, Post-Timeskip, Epilogue, and Post-Epilogue, we can instead use 2001, 2003, 2013, and 2015. Mocked up an example of this in my sandbox (tried doing it here but it refused to keep the width at 270px and instead filled the entire page, more genius design from Fandom). What do you say?--Xilinoc (talk) 01:26, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

I agree with this for several reasons. Having everything classified into easily definable eras makes it easy to organize and the years themselves make it easier to see where the Bleach timeline corresponds with the real world timeline. I also support this idea. Honestly, I only wrote Post-Epilogue because it was my first idea on how to sort Mayuri's appearance, and had no better idea at the time. Using actual, in-universe dates works much better IMO. Timjer (talk) 08:33, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
