Picture Change Guidelines

As per the Image Policy, nominate and discuss changes to the profile pictures of the character articles here and only here. The typical requirements for a profile picture are that it shows the character facing forward, in their typical attire and should not be battle-worn. They should be centered, have good lighting, and be of good quality. Candidates also must have valid and complete {{fair use}} and {{fair use rationale}} templates attached to them or else they will be rejected.

  • Vote by typing either of the following in the relevant sections:

Only one "Support" vote per user. Votes will be open only for a week of the initial pic being placed. At the end of the week the highest rated pic will win. If no pick is a clear winner, than an admin with pick the pic. If another pic is brought up after the picture is picked then the voting begins again with the pic that has already been picked and the new pic or pics.

Picture Change Candidates

Bambietta Basterbine

The manga's over so we best get these out of the way. Now, while the current profile image we use for Bambietta is by no means bad, one thing I've noticed about her character design is that she switches between looking like a young girl and a young woman fairly often. This is best exemplified in the current and proposal images, respectively, and the manga more often portrays her as looking like an adult rather than a teenager. Moreover, the proposal I found (which is honestly the best I could find) has her from a completely frontal angle, more detail in her face and is overall what I'd expect of a profile image (not trying to diss you at all, original uploader, just giving my spiel).--Xilinoc (talk) 01:12, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

Candice Catnipp

As with Bambietta above, Candice's current profile isn't bad, but I think the proposal I found has some improvements. First off, though I normally wouldn't use expression as a quality indicator unless it's clearly a gag or something, there is precedent for that here, so I'll point out that Candice's default expression is generally a manic grin rather than a puzzled frown. Moreover, she's not angling her entire body in the proposal and her design's more "finalized" (no big ol' anime eyes).--Xilinoc (talk) 01:12, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

Liltotto Lamperd

I have a feeling that this proposal and the next will be the least contested...anyway, back when Liltotto debuted, I chose her mugshot over the zoomed-out shot of her from the group entrance for the sake of detail (and the image not being stretched out/including other characters in the template), but we now have the technology chapters necessary to do better. The proposal isn't a completely frontal shot, but you can see her hair, her hat, and part of her outfit, which makes her more distinguishable than the now-obsolete current one does.--Xilinoc (talk) 01:12, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

BG9

Not to get superbly presumptuous, but I can't even THINK of any arguments against this one. The current profile we have for best robot is a zoomed-in shot of his helmet/mask/whatever and very little else; the proposal shows a whole lot more (such as the rest of its head) without sacrificing detail or angle. pls u guys.--Xilinoc (talk) 01:12, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

Ichigo Kurosaki (Post-Timeskip)

You may be experiencing déjà vu right now because I submitted this exact proposal a year and a half ago. I'm only resubmitting it now because 1. only one other user voted in the previous discussion, which led to a net neutral vote rather than a negative or positive one, and 2. Hyōrinmaru (Zanpakutō spirit)

The layout for Zabimaru's profile template (showing both canon and non-canon forms) has been around for a while, but it only just occurred to me that the same situation applies to Hyōrinmaru, since he's been shown as an ice dragon in the manga rather than a pretty boy as in the filler arcs. However, it's not quite as simple as just using the shot of him from the adaptation of chapter -16 in episode 239 because 1. that shot has a lot of blurs, wind, and light reflection making him a bit hard to make out, and 2. I couldn't find a version of that episode above 480p quality (RIP kissanime). So, despite the precedent of using anime shots if/when available for character profiles, I'm putting up the manga version of that scene as well because it's pretty high-quality and you can actually see the guy pretty well. Both have Hitsugaya, but that's more for an evenly focused image than including him for scale, I promise. So the pros for each are as follows, I think:

Manga:

  • High quality
  • No blurring or glares

Anime:

  • Color
  • Following precedent
