Image Use[]

Licensing & Rationale[]

This Discussion is Closed
The result of this discussion is: All images currently in use on the episode summaries have the necessary legal tagging.

I'll throw this up on the Volume Summary Project, but now that our image policy has become more detailed, it's important to add the {{Fair use}} and {{Fair use rationale}} templates onto the images we use in the volume and episode pages, for legal reasons. Since we're going along through these pages, adding summaries and such, anyway, we might as well do it as we're going along. If we can't think of a reason for the use of the image, then it should be marked for deletion with the {{delete}} template or with one of the {{No rationale}} {{No license}} templates. Twocents (Talk) 03:30, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

All images used on the episode summary pages and the Episodes page now have {{Fair use}} and {{Fair use rationale}} templates, as do the OVA & movie pages. --Yyp (Talk) 12:15, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Adding Images[]

You may have noticed, but at the suggestion of Tinni, I've been addig images to the earlier summaries that lack images, like Episode 23 onwards!! Obviously, in that last month there has been a change in policies with the introduction of galleries and such!! I just want to know if what I'm doing is ok and if I'm going about everything in the correct procedure, I.E. uploading images, placing them in the cataloguing gallery and placing them in the summaries they correspond to, is this ok?? Please let me know as soon as possible SunXia (talk) 17:55, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

You are doing fine, everything seems good to me. And thanks for adding these images. I was doing this before, but only got as far as about episode 20 before getting bogged down with other stuff and haven't really come back to this since. Thanks, ~~Ууp <talk> 18:31, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

My proposal for a Powers and techniques layout[]

Powers and techniques used[]

Kidō used[]

This sub-section will contain everything that appears in the Kidō page, excluding Shunkō

EXAMPLE:
  • Bakudō #1 Sai (塞, Restrain)
  • Hoyoku no Jomon (鳳翼の城門, The Gate of Phoenix Wings)

Zanpakutō released[]

This sub-section will contain names of Zanpakutō seen released on screen, devided by Shikai, Bankai and Resurrección

EXAMPLES:

Shikai:

Bankai:

Resurrección

  • Tiburón (皇鮫后 (ティブロン), Imperial Shark Empress; Spanish: Shark)

(the Japanese pronunciation of the words is insignificant here)

Techniques used[]

This sub-section will contain any and all techniques that are not official Kidō: Zanpakutō techniques, Orihime and Chad techniques, Quincy techniques, Hollow techniques, Hohō techniques, Shunkō, Doll techniques, Bakkōtō techniques and Zanpakutō spirit techniques

EXAMPLES:

Zanpakutō techniques

Quincy techniques:

  • Licht Regen (光の雨 (リヒト・レーゲン), Rain of Light; German: Light Rain)
  • Sprenger (破芒陣, Ripping Grass Formation; German: Explosion)

Hohō techniques:

General techniques:

Hollow techniques:

  • Cero (虚閃 (セロ), Hollow Flash; Spanish: Zero)
  • Garganta (黒腔 (ガルガンタ), Black Cavity; Spanish: Throat)

General techniques:

  • Koten Zanshun (孤天斬盾, Solitary Sacred Cutting Shield)
  • La Muerte (魔人の一撃 (ラ・ムエルテ), The Strike of the Demon; Spanish: The Death)
  • Dalk's Metal Manipulation technique
  • Kakuyoku's Energy Blast Technique
  • Tobiume's Fireball Technique

Other powers[]

This sub-section will include any power that is not a technique all on its own. A power is any framework that allows activating techniques, but isn't a Zanpakutō: Shun Shun Rikka, armored arms, Quincy bows/arrows, Bakkōtō, Dolls

EXAMPLES:

Quincy powers:

  • Ginrei Kōjaku (銀嶺弧雀, Lone Sparrow on a Silver Cliff)
  • Seele Schneider (魂を切り裂 (くもの (ゼーレシュナイダー), That Which Slits the Soul; German: Soul Cutter)

General powers:

  • Shun Shun Rikka (盾舜六花, Six Flowers of the Hibiscus Shield; Viz: Six Princess Shielding Flowers)
  • Brazo Izquierda del Diablo (悪魔の左腕 (ブラソ・イスキエルダ・デル・ディアブロ), Left Arm of the Devil)

Bakkōtō:

Dolls:

Weedefinition (Talk) 10:48, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

While I can appreciate how much work you put into this, I will go ahead and offer my opposition, at least at this point in time. It seems that the list has only been given bigger names and divided more specifically into Quincy powers, Bakkoto, Dolls, etc. The other thing I don't like is that this creates sub-sections, as you can see in this page's Table of Contents. But the primary problem is that the main purpose of the project right now is to get all of the Summary, Characters, and Technique pages in place. Minato will be returning around Mid-February so he can give his opinion at that time, but right now I think this should be on the backburner until the current goals are met. SerialSniper14(Talk) 03:14, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

I know. The reason I put in so much work is because I had no idea there actually was a working layout, because it wasn't working. Every episode had something different in the P&T section. No specific order of items (sometimes zanpakuto released after techniques, which to me doesn't make any sense). I think the most important part of my proposed layout is the non-Japanese powers making use of the third slot of the translation template while the translation from Spanish/German is in the fourth slot. I can live without it being sub-sectioned, and the categorization of the techniques to Quincy/Bakkoto/etc is mere suggestion, but I think the order should be like so: !)Kido used. 2)Zanpakuto released. 3) Techniques used. 4) Other powers (which can for all intents and purposes include Dolls, Bakkoto and other unaffiliated techniques as well, to make it shorter and unmessy). As you said, Minato should be the one to make the choice of whether or not to use any part of my proposal, and for now at least I have a layout to work with. Weedefinition (Talk) 10:48, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I feel I should give some sort of answer to this. I see where both of u r coming. Like Serial said, I too don't like the idea of subsections. At the same time organization is also a necessity. I too have noticed the irregularities Weede. In fact when I first joined the Committee Twocents mentioned to me that this was a problem with the "Powers" sections. I have been thinking about this for the past day and I'm still not sure what specific order or categorization should be used. For now the example page should be followed to the letter. It covers alittle of just about everything. Tho in one particular section, the "Hollow Techniques:" and "Techniques used:" are divided into two different sections. At the current time this is the only thing I think could be merged together. Due to the fact that Hollow techniques r few and far between. This could be renamed to say "Arrancar and Hollow techniques:", but that just seems pointless. I want to think more about this, but for now the order used on the Project page seems mostly right. Another exception is that I think that "Techniques used:" could be dropped to the bottom, just above "Other Powers:". I'll think more about this and if u two have any input or opinions on this, say so. Minato(Talk) 01:06, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

I have to say though, a lot has gotten better since I posted this, at least the order is the same in every episode now, even if it is up side down. I still think the order should be Kido>Zanpakuto>techniques>other. Makes much more sense to me this way. Weedefinition (Talk) 17:15, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Addition of "Fights" Section[]

Seeing as the Fight Summary Project has gotten underway, I feel it's only appropriate to yield the fruits of the hard work going into it by adding a ==Fights== section to every episode summary. This section will only list fights that took place in order in that episode (and read "None" if no fights took place) and will fit in-between the ==Characters in order of appearance== and ==Techniques used==. There will be a couple criteria for a fight to be listed but I'll add that later when I make the official addendum to the Project page.

The priority is still to get the summaries written, proofread, and in place, so this will be on the backburner for a little while unless someone can find the time to get started on this. SerialSniper14(Talk) 08:50, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

P.S. This being said, anyone who is creating/contributing to newer summaries (i.e. Beast Sowrd arc) please go ahead add this section in to save a little time in the future.

I like the idea of this proposal. I have read the above one from Weede, but I want to think about it more before I answer. This seems like a good Idea and I support it, in the future. The fight project is still getting on its feet. I want to help it more, but for now I need to get caught up on my project first. For now the Summaries r the most important thing and we shouldn't make this section until the fights r caught up. Still, this is another thing that the Anime Summary project should do in the future. Minato(Talk) 00:47, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Excuse me, but I saw Episodes 220-265 are without the "Fights" section.--Gran Danku 22:43, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Scroll boxes for long character lists[]

I have a problem with long lists of characters on episode pages. In the past I used scroll boxes in two or three episodes (during the Muramasa arc, I think), and got away with it, last I checked. But I think I should talk it over in here before making a habbit out of it. I suggest we use a scroll box only for episodes where the character list numbers 30+, this in order to keep the page in a reasonable size. Weedefinition (Talk) 09:35, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Are there that many episodes with that many characters? I'm all for it in principle (after all, the volume summaries use it all the time). How many lines can you see in those boxes maximum? I was just thinking maybe 15+ or similiar would be a better number to use. TomServo101 09:56, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Well, like I said, I only used it two or three times. It isn't necessary to have many episodes like that to allow use of the scroll box, but if the need should arise, we should be allowed to use it without being undone for not following the stated guidelines. I don't think we need to use the SB for a number as low as 15, we might start at 20, but I think 15 lines makes for a more or less reasonable size of page. As for how many lines can be seen, IDK, but I think it should be around 10. Weedefinition (Talk) 17:01, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

There is also the option to create a table template that has two columns. I think a scroll box would just be annoying, so if you make two columns with the names in order, it would save space and make them readily available. I can make the template if the idea is approved. SerialSniper14(Talk) 00:53, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Whatever works is fine by me. Two columns might even be a better solution. WD Talk to me 06:41, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

I am fine with this idea. 20 sounds like a good number. Weede and u others, if u see one with 20 or more characters I say go ahead and add the scroll box. Minato(Talk) 05:42, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Which is it?[]

Right, this was never really resolved and I want it settled before it is added to even more pages and becomes harder to change. Do we want scroll box or volume summary-esque columns (either 2 or 3 columns). I vote for columns as they look better and there is just a load of empty space otherwise & the scroll box is annoying. Over to you guys... Yyp (Talk) 21:07, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Addition of "Locations" Section[]

May I add the "Locations" Section as well?--Gran Danku 10:20, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

Hollow techniques in P&T sections[]

I came under the impression that there was no longer need to specify translation details for the techniques/powers in episode pages, but in the project page format (only in Hollow techniques) they are still detailed, so which is it? WD Talk to me 11:02, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

You're right - it just seems that nobody thought to change the example to reflect that. I've changed it now. Yyp (Talk) 11:12, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

There is one technique that is not a Hollow's technique: Telekinesis. Like there are techniques exclusive to Arrancar (Sonído, Hierro, Pesquisa, etc.) (and upper-level Hollows). The Telekinesis Vizard gain while in their Hollowfication is their own technique.--Gran Danku 18:34, July 11, 2010 (UTC)

Hollofication in P&A sections[]

I noticed that we've recently started listing Hollowfication in Powers & Abilities sections of episodes, but I think it only exists in the very recent episodes. I covered all the episodes since the end of the Tōjū arc (I think), but it's gonna take someone with more patience than mine to scan through every episode since Ichigo's training before the Soul Society arc and see if there's Hollowfication in them (might be in flashbacks too). So just be on the look out and if you happen to come across an episode that has Hollowfication in it check its page and add it if it's not showing. Remember, the correct format is: Horōka (虚化, Hollowfication). WD Talk to me 16:28, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Reigai & Characters in Order of Appearance[]

I hate to put this up when I'm about to sign out and won't be able to respond till tomorrow, but no choice. I'd like to sort out an agreed standard for listing the reigai in the characters in order of appearance sections before this arc gets too far. Currently all "normal" characters are listed and that's it for the earlier episodes of the arc - no mention of the reigai. But in some instances there are reigai listed when the character they are a copy of did not appear themselves. Then there is some cases of a certain reigai appearing in the episode before the real character does and vice versa. For the short-medium term it would be good if we could get some consistency and then review later as needed. So how do we want to do this? ~~Ууp <talk> 22:44, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

I think the simplest solution is what you just did with the latest episode, putting (Reigai) next the name. If the Reigai and original both appear, they are both listed but only the first instance is linked. So an example would be:

  1. Rangiku Matsumoto
  2. Rangiku Matsumoto (Reigai)

That would probably be the simplest way. Any other opinions or objections?--GodPray  22:55,5/24/2011

Yup, if that is agreed, I'll go back through the older ones to make them all like that myself. Anyone else want to chime in? If not I'm just taking the silence as "no objections here". ~~Ууp <talk> 11:05, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

I think that this is a good way of differentiating between the Reigai characters and the originals, at least until the arc progresses far enough so that they get their own respective articles. JW Talk 11:48, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

Ok I'll take care of that then. ~~Ууp <talk> 20:36, June 2, 2011 (UTC)

updated episodes[]

Hey I did episode 194 a while ago, and it has since been updated. I did not (and still) know how to add my name to the episode. It was approved so quickly that my name never got added. Is there anyway to remove the episode from the alternate arc list to avoid confusion? --Lemursrule (talk) 17:18, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

I went ahead and added your name and that it needs to be checked for completion. Yyp or Minato will see it, check it and move it.--GodPray  17:30,6/9/2011

Thank You So Much! I have been so busy, that it has kind of slipped my mind. I will try to do at least two more before the end of the summer. --Lemursrule (talk) 17:34, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

Show/Hide template[]

I was trying to add the show/hide template to the P&A example section to shorten the page up, but each time I try to preview it, it does not work, not even copy/pasting code from Ichigo's page. Would someone mind trying to add it for me please. Thanks ~~Ууp <talk> 15:39, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

I added it, but I don't know if that's how you wanted it. Also for some reason the show/hide template won't show up when you press preview but it will show up when you publish it. I had a similar problem with the show/hide template and navigation boxes on the Fairy Tail Wiki.  Iam...JakuhoRaikoben  16:15,7/5/2011

Thanks. Seems that every time I go to use that code something is wrong with it. ~~Ууp <talk> 18:13, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

Project page[]

When I was looking through the episodes to find summaries that needed expansion, I realized that a whole lot of the are missing from the project page. Obviously the page hasn't been updated for a while. Since the anime is finished, I just think the summaries the still need to be written be added to the page. Just a suggestion. Blossom (Converse) 02:54,8/7/2012

The project works arc by arc. Once one arc is finished, a new arc is put up on the page.--GodPray  03:02,8/7/2012
