Bleach: Official Character Book SOULs was the first databook to be released for the Bleach manga and recapped the story of Bleach from the start of series through to the end of the Soul Society Arc and provides a preview of the Arrancar Arc. It provided additional information for key story points, specially about Soul Society and the Gotei 13, as well as provide mini-profiles on the Shinigami encountered during the Soul Society Arc. In addition, the book contained previously unseen content in the form of omake chapters.

Errors in vital statistics

There were a number of errors in vital statistics in SOULs for multiple characters. These statistics contradicted information presented in earlier published character profiles within manga volumes and were subsequently corrected in the later published Bleach: Official Bootleg KaraBuri+. The discrepancies included,

• Byakuya Kuchiki's birthday
  • SOULs - August 31
  • Bootleg and Character Profile in Volume 9 - January 31
• Kenpachi Zaraki's height
  • SOULs - 198 cm (6'6")
  • Bootleg and Character Profile in Volume 13 - 202 cm (6'7½")

Trivia

• 0.side-A the sand was originally published in this databook but was later included in Volume 23: ¡Mala Suerte!.
• The Bleach: Official Animation Book VIBEs was released at the same time as the Book of SOULs in Japan but the VIBEs book is yet to be released in English.
